Our partner abuse intervention program (PAIP) is grounded on core beliefs that:
Those who accept that they have chosen to abuse and take accountability can change.
WHO WE SERVE
The majority of those referred to the program are mandated to participate by the Adult Probation and Social Service Departments of the Circuit Court of Cook County. Others are referred through such sources as: courts in surrounding suburban communities; child welfare agencies including DCFS; social service agencies; private practitioners; and attorneys. We also receive self-referrals from individuals who believe they have been abusive to an intimate partner and are seeking help to stop this behavior.
Group Options:
Female Only
Male Only
HOW THE PROGRAM WORKS
In accordance with the Partner Abuse Intervention Protocol approved by the Illinois Department of Human Services, HST domestic Violence program offers a comprehensive curriculum developed with components of trauma-informed practices, effects on children, long-term accountability, and psychoeducation for healthy relationships. Each participant receives an individualized assessment and orientation for successful placement in the program. The intervention group meets for a minimum of 24 consecutive weeks and 2 follow-up sessions.
These specialized groups have been shown to help participants develop greater empathy and practice positive communication and non-violent living skills essential for creating healthier relationships with intimate partners. In addition, research shows that individuals who successfully completes a Partner Abuse Intervention program are less likely to abuse again which leads to decreased recidivism.
