When it comes to bettering yourself and planning for a successful future, you can never go wrong with planning it out. It’s a good time to set goals for the rest of the school year, as well as plans for the summer. Below are tips on how to best plan your Year-long Educational and Personal Goals.
-Preparing for on campus recruitment
At the onset of a new semester, there are many programs, organizations, and clubs starting to gear back up for the year. Most of them are likely to be looking for new members. So, if you are interested in any program, club or organization, don’t be afraid to join. Remember, email is vital to your college career so be sure to check your email regularly for information about upcoming meetings and informationals. These meetings will be the best time to go and find out about what to expect, as well as how you can best fit the extra-curricular activity into your schedule.
-Seeking out internships
Now is a great time to start looking for summer internships. Even if it’s not required for your major, stay open to taking internships. It looks good when you get a head start with experience in your field. It makes it easier to get a job after graduation. Many companies are currently looking for interns. Check around campus, look online, even ask people, such as friends, classmates & teachers, about any internships that you can get into. Plus, it’s a good way to keep busy and generate income during the summer.
-Budgeting your finances
We all know it’s not easy being a college student. That’s why learning how to budget your finances is important. If you’re one of the many students who has bills such as rent, car note/ insurance/maintenance, phone, etc., it is especially important to ensure that you budget properly to keep out of financial trouble. Regardless of what kind of bills and other monthly finances you have, it’s always good to keep track of what you must pay for and when it has to be paid. It helps you become more responsible in taking care of business.
-Planning for the upcoming school year
Although this semester just started, it’s ok to get ahead on planning for the upcoming school year. Whether it is registering for your classes, securing a job or internship, or just planning out how you intend to take on the new school year, it’s never too early to do so.
-Staying on Track
Sit down on a regular basis to check your progress. Make sure you are taking steps to accomplish your goals. Always have a vision. Think of goals as the steps you need to take to achieve your vision. Things may not always go as planned but when you incorporate God into the plan, you’re guaranteed to experience more than what you hoped for
